Reset Forgotten Admin Password for Windows Installed on Your Mac

If you've forgotten your Windows password and you're running Windows on your Mac through Boot Camp, you're in luck. There are a couple different ways you can reset your password without having to reinstall Windows. In this article, we'll show you how to reset your forgotten Windows password using Kon-Boot.

Kon-Boot is a program that allows you to login to your Windows account without knowing your password. It works by temporarily changing the way Windows authenticates your account, so you can login without entering a password. Once you're logged in, you can change your password to something you'll remember.

To use Kon-Boot, you'll need to create a bootable USB drive or CD. You can do this on a Mac or PC. Once you have your bootable media, boot your Mac from it. Kon-Boot will load and you'll be able to select your Windows account from the list. Kon-Boot will then bypass the password authentication and you'll be logged in.

Once you're logged in, you can head to the Control Panel and change your password. Once you've changed your password, reboot your Mac and remove the Kon-Boot media. You should now be able to login to your Windows account with your new password.

If you don't have a Kon-Boot bootable media, you can still reset your password without reinstalling Windows. To do this, you'll need to boot into the Windows Recovery Environment. To do this, restart your Mac and hold down the Option key when it starts up. Select the Windows Recovery HD and press Enter.

Once you're in the Windows Recovery Environment, select Command Prompt from the list of options. In the Command Prompt, type the following command and press Enter:

copy c:\windows\system32\utilman.exe c:\

This will copy the utilman.exe file to the C: drive. This file is responsible for the Windows Login Utility. By replacing it with a copy, we can bypass the password authentication.

Next, type the following command and press Enter:

copy c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe c:\windows\system32\utilman.exe

This will copy the cmd.exe file to utilman.exe. The cmd.exe file is the Windows Command Prompt. By replacing utilman.exe with cmd.exe, we can launch the Command Prompt when we click the Login Utility icon.

Now, restart your Mac and select the Windows HD from the boot menu. When the Login Utility appears, click the icon in the bottom-left corner. This will launch the Command Prompt. From here, you can type the following command to reset your password:

net user [username] [password]

Replace [username] with your username and [password] with your new password. Once you've done that, type exit and press Enter to close the Command Prompt. You can now restart your Mac and login to your account with your new password.

If you don't want to use Kon-Boot or the Windows Recovery Environment, you can also reset your password from the Windows installation disc. To do this, insert your Windows installation disc and restart your Mac. Hold down the Option key when it starts up and select the CD/DVD drive from the boot menu.

Once the Windows installer loads, select Repair your computer from the list of options. In the next window, select Command Prompt. In the Command Prompt, type the following commands and press Enter after each one:

bootrec.exe /fixmbr

bootrec.exe /fixboot

bootrec.exe /rebuildbcd

These commands will fix the boot records on your hard drive. Once they're finished, type exit and press Enter to close the Command Prompt. You can now restart your Mac and login to your account with your new password.

If you've forgotten your password and you're running Windows on your Mac, there's no need to worry. There are a few different ways you can reset your password without having to reinstall Windows. In this article, we've shown you how to reset your forgotten password using Kon-Boot.
