How to Reset HP Elitebook Administrator and BIOS Passwords

If you've forgotten your HP Elitebook administrator password, there's no need to panic. There are a few different ways that you can reset the password and regain access to your account. In this article, we'll show you how to reset your HP Elitebook administrator password using Kon-Boot.

Kon-Boot is a program that allows you to bypass the password prompt and login to your account without entering a password. Once you've downloaded and installed Kon-Boot, simply reboot your computer and select the "Kon-Boot" option from the boot menu. Kon-Boot will then load and allow you to login to your account without entering a password.

If you don't want to use Kon-Boot, you can also reset your HP Elitebook administrator password by booting into the Recovery Console. To do this, insert the Windows XP CD into your computer and boot from it. When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to enter the Recovery Console.

At the Recovery Console prompt, type the following commands:

cd \windows\system32

ren adminpass.dll adminpass.old

copy cmd.exe adminpass.dll

exit

Reboot your computer and you should now be able to login without a password.

If you're still having trouble resetting your HP Elitebook administrator password, you can try using the Offline NT Password & Registry Editor. This program allows you to reset the password for any user account on your computer.

Once you've downloaded the Offline NT Password & Registry Editor, burn it to a CD or USB drive and boot from it. At the main menu, select the "Change Password" option. Enter the username for the account that you want to reset the password for and then enter the new password twice.

Reboot your computer and you should now be able to login with the new password.
